I think I’m going to take a break.

I’m having a bit of a hard time with this month’s short. Part of me wants to scrap it and part of me wants to finish it. My time budgeted for other things has run over and I’m sacrificing writing time to get them done.

Yesterday when I was working on the short, I looked in my folder and found that it is number twelve. Why is twelve so important? When I started doing the shorts, I set a goal for myself to compile every twelve of them into a book and publish it for sale here on the site. So technically I’ve reached that goal.

I think I’m going to take a break after this story. Making myself sit down and write a story every month is turning into a job and in becoming a job, the enjoyment tends to get sucked right out of it. And when I can no longer find enjoyment in the things I do, I neglect them. I don’t want that to happen with my writing.

There are other things I’ve recently become interested in, like Fiction Fridays. I’m also considering writing a serial novel or continuing one of my unpublished stories. Also in the works is venturing into the freelance writing realm for extra cash, which as we all know, is always good to have. Freelance writing is in the category of being a job, but I’m looking at it and my fiction as two separate entities. One is for money, the other for entertainment.

With that being said, I’m afraid this month’s short is going to be the last one for a while. On the bright side, look for the release of my second book this coming January.
