Where are you?
I was reading through this post over at the Write Anything site and came across the following list of questions at the end. They really made me think. So through the magic of copy / paste, I bring them to you now. Do you have space eked out that is yours, and yours alone to write? If no, why not? I tried to eke out a space, but in all honesty it just didn’t work. One of the spare bedrooms in my house I had transformed into an office space when I found myself laid off a few years ago and decided to start my own business. Being that I immediately went to work for a competitor, my office space went unused and when I started writing again, I tried to make … Read entire article »

Life Path 7
I decided to do a numerology reading today at lunch. Let’s see if this thing is at all accurate. “Angry Georgian (real name omitted), your Life Path of 7 … “Great. I like the number seven. (Note my sarcasm.) “You are a reserved, analytical and peace-loving soul who is blessed with intuition and intelligence.”So far, so good. “Your ability to concentrate, learn and absorb information far outshines other numbers and you often excel at all forms of scholastics.”Okay, strike one! The only thing I ever excelled in was drafting and electronics. “Usually your intellectual prowess as well as the clarity and foresight of mind is very evident to others at an early age. However at the same time you are also a very spiritual number. This is because you believe whole heartedly in the … Read entire article »

Fiction Friday #164
This week’s Fiction Friday prompt: Use a McGuffin in your story. McGuffin: An object or person in a movie that has no use other than to drive the narrative forward. (originally coined by Alfred Hitchcock) examples: The Maltese Falcon in the movie of the same name; the suitcase in Pulp Fiction This is a new one for me; I’ve never written anything like this before. And I must admit, writing a McGuffin into the story is harder than it seems. I didn’t know exactly what to do with it, but I gave it a whirl anyway. A disheveled fourteen-year-old Kelly Martin sat on the curb at the corner of Fourteenth and Vine. She had a look about her; tender and young, yet experienced and mature. Her hair hanged in dreadlocks, peeking out from beneath her … Read entire article »

Fiction Friday #163
This week’s Fiction Friday prompt: In her right hand a woman holds a loaded gun, in her left, a coin that just came up ‘tails’…NOW WRITE… Annie lowered her head in defeat. Yesterday she was the Vice President of a Fortune 500 company; three kids, several cars, a yacht, a house fit for a king (or a queen in her case), she even had her own airplane. Thirty-six hours ago she signed her name to a contract that would net Wilder Holdings close to a billion dollars by the end of the year. With that money they could expand into the Asian market, and with that expansion came an offshoot company – one which she would become President of. It was quickly becoming her dream to move to Tokyo and live … Read entire article »

I think I’m going to take a break.
I’m having a bit of a hard time with this month’s short. Part of me wants to scrap it and part of me wants to finish it. My time budgeted for other things has run over and I’m sacrificing writing time to get them done. Yesterday when I was working on the short, I looked in my folder and found that it is number twelve. Why is twelve so important? When I started doing the shorts, I set a goal for myself to compile every twelve of them into a book and publish it for sale here on the site. So technically I’ve reached that goal. I think I’m going to take a break after this story. Making myself sit down and write a story every month is turning into a job … Read entire article »

It’s been a while, but I’m back.
It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged. I thought that since starting this new site, I would keep my entries to writing-related posts only. Truth be told, while I did enjoy the break for a while, it has been wearing on me for some time. I can say I really, honestly miss it. I kept all of my entries from my old blog on private. Last night I went through them all; culled some and trashed a bunch of others. Some of them were too childish and whatnot to bother putting up here. I still have them though and I may go through and do some more culling. In the meantime, my Old Post Promoter will randomly re-post them as it has been doing with my other posts. I am looking … Read entire article »
