Not So Short Story

I’m still working on the first short story of my book. As of right now I’ve got twenty pages written and I’m nowhere near the end yet. In an attempt to keep my book at around three hundred pages, I don’t think I’ll be fitting in thirty stories as I had originally planned. This first story is probably going to push fifty pages by the time I’m done with it.
My mother’s probably going to disown me when she reads it. It’s the most vulgar thing I’ve ever written. But you know what? To make it good and make it sell, I can’t hold anything back. I have to just lay it all out there no matter what it is or who it offends.
I’m looking at six to eight stories now instead of thirty. There was a specific reason behind thirty, but in order to do that, I’ll have to make them all really short and that’s just not my writing style. Then again, I might just end up turning it into a novellette or a novela.
